It was incorporated on April 4, 1911, as the town of Westminster. The city is bordered by Arvada to the south, Broomfield to the north, Thornton to the northeast, Northglenn and Federal Heights to the east, and Twin Lakes, Sherrelwood, and Berkley to the southeast.
