Waukegan, nicknamed "The Town", is a large city in Illinois, United States, located on the shores of Lake Michigan, in the northeastern part of the state and 37 miles north of downtown Chicago. It is the seat of Lake County, as well as the most populous one. It was founded in 1829, incorporated as a town on March 31, 1849, and as a city on February 23, 1859. The city hosts a few annual events like Chicago Latino Film Festival and The Fiestas Patrias Parade and Festival.
