Trinidad and Tobago is one of the island countries considered to be a part of the Caribbean islands, located to the north east of South America, very close to the shores of Venezuela. The country includes two principal islands, the one of Trinidad and the one of Tobago, with the latter being considerably smaller, as well as a number of other much smaller islands. The total area of the country is slightly less than 2,000 square miles, and the islands form an independent state, Trinidad and Tobago. Historically, the islands used to be under a lasting invasion of European, particularly Spanish, nations, and in modern times the country is a well provided and industrialized area, with good amounts of natural resources and a well developed infrastructure available throughout the country.

The distance between Trinidad and Tobago to the coastal cities of Venezuela is just about 20 miles and the capital city of the country, Port of Spain, is situated in the western part of the country, about 13 miles from a Venezuelan city of Macuro. Other major cities of the country include the ones of San Fernando, Scarborough, Arima, Tunapuna, Sangre Grande, Chaguanas, and others. The island of Trinidad is manly covered by low hills and has a small mountainous range which is parallel to the northern shoreline of the country. The island of Tobago has a much higher average elevation comparing to the one of Trinidad. The country is famous for numerous resorts, excellent beaches, a large variety of hotels and other accommodation options available to the vacationers who come to Trinidad and Tobago.
