The Maldives is a beautiful set of islands and an independent country, located in the Indian Ocean, about 560 miles south of the island of Sri Lanka. Due to this extremely low elevation, the Maldives are expected to seriously suffer from the increasing problem of seawater rise. Specialists predict that by the end of the current century it may be a need of evacuating most of the residents of the country since most of the area of the Maldives may go under waters of the Indian Ocean.
