The city of St. Petersburg, also known as "St. Pete" and "Florida's Sunshine City", is located in Pinellas County, western Florida, United States. It is one of the most populated and largest cities in the state. The city is a part of the Tampa–St. Petersburg–Clearwater Metropolitan Statistical Area. Established in 1888 by John C. Williams and incorporated on February 29, 1892, St. Petersburg is located on the shores of the northwest of Tampa Bay. Geographically, the city of St. Petersburg is bordered by the waters of the Tampa Bay from three sides, and to the north, the city area is bordered by one more large district called Pinellas Park. St. Pete–Clearwater International Airport is situated 12 miles north of Downtown St. Petersburg.

St. Petersburg is known for its beautiful harbor and a nice small port which can be found in Boca Ciega Bay Aquatic Preserve. The port is the place where plenty of beautiful yachts and small boats can be seen. The city is a known resort and an important tourist spot. Local museums, monuments, historic buildings, churches, art galleries, shopping malls, parks, recreation facilities, and other attractions are filled up with tourists year-round. On the shores of Tampa Bay, it is possible to find numerous nice small parks like Vinoy Park, Lassing Park, Coquina Key Park, Bay Vista Recreation Center, Pinellas Point Park, Maximo Park, and a few others. The city is also home to The Dalí (Salvador Dalí Museum).
