Sheung Wan (or the Upper District) is a small district located in northwest Hong Kong, facing the beautiful Victoria Harbor and being among the most famous districts of Hong Kong. It is also one of the key transport and trade parts of the city, with great advanced business, commercial, financial and transportation facilities. For example, the coastline of the district is home to many modern offices and business centers situated in tall up-to-date buildings and building complexes. Sheung Wan is also known as the Gateway District and this name is connected with the history of the district as it was the very place where the British landed and invaded the area of modern Hong Kong. Today, there is a large ferry terminal, the Hong Kong Macau Ferry Terminal is located in that part of the coastal line.
