Ross Sea Region Marine Protected Area is a national preserve and a protected area situated in the eastern part of Antarctica, in and around the Ross Sea. Established in 2005, the protected area has the total area of about 1.5 million square kilometers and is one of the most biologically diverse marine area. It took many years to achieve international agreements as to the jurisdiction and administration of the natural preserve. Finally, all the formalities were finalized in 2016 and the regions was proclaimed to become a natural marine park. The Ross Sea Marine Park is known for its huge variety of marine creatures and plankton of all kinds.
