It was designed by Francisco Ramos de Azevedo in an eclectic style, opened in 1933, renovated in 2004. It has an area of 12,600 square meters, and houses more than 1,500 employees. It is one of the most traditional gourmet spots and one of the most visited markets in the city. You can find fresh vegetables, rare fruits, dairy produce, cereals, pasta, sweets, spices, and many more. It is a very popular tourist attraction welcoming people all over Brazil and other countries.
