Monasterio de Piedra is one of the oldest monasteries in western Europe, located at Calle Afueras, s/n, Nuévalos, Zaragoza, Aragon. It was established in the early 12th century by a group of monks of Cistersian Order, and the monastery was dedicated to the Saint Mary in White. The monastery is famous with old buildings of Gothic and Classical style, as well as some old fortifications, beautiful gardens around the monastery and wonderful unique waterfalls on the Piedra River. The park around the monastery is considered to be a natural preserve with very specific and rich fauna and flora.
