Lewiston is the main city of the Lewiston, ID-WA Metropolitan Statistical Area and the seat of Nez Perce County in Idaho, United States, located at the intersection of the Snake River and Clearwater River, in the north-central part of the state. The area was originally inhabited by the Nez Percè for many years. It is one of the largest cities in northern Idaho, as well as one of the top ten in the state. It was founded in 1861, named for Meriwether Lewis, and incorporated in January 1863. The city became the capital of the Idaho Territory from 1863 until 1866. It is home to Lewis–Clark State College. Lewiston-Nez Perce County Regional Airport, U.S. 12, U.S. 95, and SH 128 serve the city. Lewiston is the hometown of the American writer and producer Bryan Fuller who created "Pushing Daisies". Points of interest in the city include Nez Perce County Historical Society & Museum, Gaylord Thompson House, Modie Park Conservancy, Hereth Park, Locomotive Park, Airport Park, and Hells Gate State Park.
