Kathmandu (काठमाडौँ) is the capital and the largest city in Nepal, with the old historic downtown area and modern residential districts located on the outskirts. The city has an amazing setting between the peaks of Tibet, and it is known as the City of Temples as it is home to plenty of old temples, including the once considered to be the oldest pagoda on the planet. Located in the beautiful green valley in central Nepal, the city is the center of the country's tourist industry, and every year thousands of visitors come here to enjoy beautiful temples, canals, palaces, gardens, and other numerous attractions. The city of Kathmandu has an ancient history and many interesting activities to offer to its guests.

The city is also known for its multi-cultural and multi-religious community, with a large number of Christians, Muslims, Hindus, or Buddhist people living there side by side. However, in recent years Kathmandu has been restored and the monuments have been reconstructed completely. The city is home to a few historical places which are under the protection of UNESCO as World Heritage List Sites.
