Enid, known as the "Wheat Capital of the United States", is a large city in Northwestern Oklahoma, United States, located 87 miles north of Oklahoma City. It is the seat of Garfield County. The city was founded in 1893 and named for a character in "Idylls of the King" by Alfred Tennyson. The city is also an industrial hub with food processing and machinery manufacturing dominating. Enid is home to several companies, such as AdvancePierre Foods, Johnston Enterprises Inc., Pumpstar, etc. It is served by U.S. Routes 64, 81, and 412. It is home to Vance Air Force Base. The city is also a cultural hub, hosting the annual Tri-State Music Festival.
