Detroit Lakes, nicknamed "DL", is a city in the state of Minnesota, USA, located on the shores of Detroit Lake in the northwestern part of the state. It was founded in 1871 by Colonel George Johnston. It is the seat of Becker County. It was built at the intersection of two highways: U.S. Routes 10 and 59. The city has many points of interest, such as the Detroit Mountain Recreation Area, Detroit Lakes Community and Cultural Center, Lyle Crovisier Memorial Park, the historic Detroit Lakes Station, Holmes Theatre, Kent Freeman Arena, and so on. It is home to Minnesota State Community and Technical College. The city has hosted the annual WE Fest since 1983. Detroit Lakes Airport serves the area.
