Corydon, also known as Indiana's First State Capital, is a historic town in Harrison County, Indiana, United States, located in the southern part of the state, to the north of the Ohio River. It was founded at the beginning of the 19th century. The town is known as the site of the state's first constitutional convention, which took place on June 10–29, 1816. It became the capital of the Indiana Territory on May 1, 1813. Corydon is a popular tourist destination with lots of historic sites and buildings. Old Capitol is Indiana's first state capitol building. The Corydon Historic District has been added to the National Register of Historic Places since 1973. Other points of interest in the town include Constitution Elm Stump, Hayswood Nature Reserve, Old Capital Golf Club, Corydon Capitol State Historic Site Museum, William Henry Harrison Log Cabin, Bicentennial Park, and Friends of Corydon Capitol. Interstate 64 and State Road 62 serve the area.
