It grossed $497.4 million worldwide against a $175–185 million budget and became the eighth highest-grossing film of the year. The film was also nominated for an Oscar. Troy was filmed in various countries, including Morocco, Mexico, and Malta. Fort Ricasoli in Malta and Cabo San Lucas in Mexico were among the filming locations.
