The Ten Commandments Locations
The Ten Commandments is an American epic adventure drama movie produced and directed by Cecil B. DeMille, written by Æneas MacKenzie, Jesse Lasky Jr., Jack Gariss, and Fredric M. Frank, based on Prince of Egypt by Dorothy Clarke Wilson, Pillar of Fire by J.H. Ingraham and On Eagle's Wings by A.E. Southon. Starring Charlton Heston, Yul Brynner, Anne Baxter, Edward G. Robinson, Yvonne De Carlo, Debra Paget, John Derek, and Cedric Hardwicke, the film follows the story of Moses, an adopted Egyptian Prince. It was released on November 8, 1956 (US), earned $122.7 million and became the second-highest-grossing film of the decade. The film also won the 1957 Academy Awards for "Best Effects, Special Effects" (John P. Fulton). The Ten Commandments was shot in the USA and Egypt. Filming locations included Mount Sinai, Beni Youssef, Red Rock Canyon State Park, Guadalupe, and Monument Valley. Additional filming took place at Paramount Studios in Los Angeles.
