The series received critical acclaim, was watched by millions of viewers, and renewed for a second season. The first season of the show consists of 9 episodes. The Last of Us was shot in Alberta, Canada. Filming locations included the Alberta Legislature Building, Northland Village, and Southern Alberta Institute of Technology.
