Starring Kevin McKidd, Ray Stevenson, Polly Walker, Kerry Condon, James Purefoy, Ian McNeice, Coral Amiga, Lindsay Duncan, and Lidia Biondi, the series was released from 28 August 2005 to 25 March 2007 on HBO (United States), BBC Two (United Kingdom), and Rai 2 (Italy). It ran for 2 seasons / 22 episodes and nominated for 2 Golden Globes. Rome was shot in Bulgaria and Italy. Filming took place at Cinecittà Studios in Rome and Nu Boyana Film Studios in Sofia.
