Marciana Library (Biblioteca Nazionale Marciana) is one of the oldest and the most known libraries of Italy, situated in the very center of Venice. It is situated right at St.Mark Square and is also named after St.Mark who is considered to be the heavenly guardian of the city. The building of the library is very old and was constructed in the first half of the 16th century. Since the city was a center of enlightenment and book printing of the Medieval ages, the collection of the library was increasing and expanding during those years. Currently, it includes a very large number of valuable historical books and especially manuscripts by the scientists and researchers of the Medieval epochs. The library building is absolutely stunning and is a true masterpiece of architecture!
