Goodnews Bay is a small coastal town situated in western Alaska, which is in north western USA. The town used to be known as Mamterat and was established about 150 years ago by settlers who were joined by the local Yup'ik people. By the end of the 19th century the population of the settlement was about 150 people, and these days there are over 250 residents living in the town. Goodnews Bay is known for its small airline located right near the town. Fishing and farming is the main occupations of the local residents. There is a good school in the town, which can accept about 50-55 little school students.
