I had the most fun out at Volusia County Speedway now called Volusia Speedway Park, being a part of paramount and Days of Thunder closed set at my stepdads
race track! As seeing it was an asphalt track when they filmed and now has been redone back into a clay dirt track to be the fastest 1/2 mile dirt track in the south. It is one of the most fun racing experiences anyone could go to enjoy as it has been NASCAR sanctioned at one time and has had many of the big name racers out there to watch and visit us at our home next door. Lake Speed, Richard Petty, Dale Earnhardt Sr., and quite a few other big names all would have come to eat dinner and then watch the races with family in stepdads office. We all were very privileged to be a part of this movie tho it was deemed not to be named and not added to their list of tracks they filmed at. This is from a long time family member whom lived out there and helped maintain the track and keep it’s property safe as paramount and the cast came to film on a
closed set. Names are not mentioned for security reasons and will not be allowed so to keep the family that owned and ran the track in secrecy.
