Starring Chiwetel Ejiofor, Lupita Nyong'o, Paul Dano, Michael Kenneth Williams, Michael Fassbender, Kelsey Scott, Quvenzhané Wallis, Christopher Berry, and Brad Pitt, the film was released on November 8, 2013 (United States) and January 10, 2014 (United Kingdom), earned $187.7 million worldwide, won 3 Oscars: "Best Motion Picture of the Year", "Best Performance by an Actress in a Supporting Role" (Lupita Nyong'o), and "Best Writing, Adapted Screenplay". Filming mainly took place in New Orleans, Louisiana. Four historic antebellum plantations were used among filming locations: Bocage, Felicity, Destrehan, and Magnolia. The film also shot at the Columns Hotel as well as Madame John's Legacy in the French Quarter of New Orleans.
